TRW Automotive was the automotive-parts arm of the American conglomerate TRW Inc., separated out under private-equity ownership (Blackstone) after Northrop Grumman's 2002 takeover of TRW. It specialized in vehicle safety systems — airbags, seatbelts, braking and steering components — and was acquired by Germany's ZF Friedrichshafen in 2015 for about $13.5 billion, becoming ZF's Active & Passive Safety Technology division.
