BYD Han EV: replacing the electric-motor coolant
Every 4 years or 100,000 km — a long-life organic-acid coolant. Interval and amounts for two-wheel-drive and 4×4 cars.
BYD Han EV: replacing the electric-motor coolant
BYD replaces the electric-motor coolant on the Han EV every 4 years or every 100,000 km, whichever comes first, with a long-life organic-acid coolant. That is far less often than the battery coolant (every 2 years / 40,000 km) because it is a different fluid in a different circuit.
Key data
- Interval: 4 years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first).
- Type: long-life anticorrosive / organic-acid coolant, freezing point −40 °C.
- Amount: 6.43 L (two-wheel drive); 9.7 L (four-wheel drive).
What to watch for
- Stay with the same type of coolant — long-life organic-acid coolants should not be mixed with just any fluid of another type.
- The four-wheel-drive version has two motors and a much larger fill (9.7 L vs 6.43 L), so the job costs more.
- The circuit includes high-voltage components — have the job done by a workshop trained for HV vehicles.
