Brake discs — Jaecoo 7

A brake disc wears more slowly than pads, but it still has a limit — every disc has a minimum thickness stamped on it, below which it loses rigidity and can warp under heat.

Signs it's the disc, not just the pads

• Pulsing in the brake pedal or steering wheel under braking — usually points to a warped disc, not worn pads
• Visible grooves or an uneven surface when you inspect the disc through the wheel spokes
• Squealing that persists even after the pads alone have been replaced

Workshop rule of thumb: new pads never go on a heavily worn or warped disc — an uneven surface wears the new pads down faster and reduces braking performance.
