Car suspension is the system of springs, shock absorbers and linkages that connects a vehicle's wheels to its body, allowing them to move independently while keeping the tires in contact with the road. It has to balance two competing goals, road holding for handling and stability, and comfort for the ride, and can use different spring types (coil, leaf or torsion bar) with either independent or dependent wheel arrangements.
