A vehicle frame, traditionally called the chassis, is the main structural component of a car to which the engine, drivetrain, suspension, wheels and body are all attached, much like a skeleton. Depending on the design, this can be a separate frame that the body sits on top of (body-on-frame construction, typical of trucks) or a unibody structure where the frame and body form a single integrated unit, as in most modern passenger cars.
