You can get a rough read on an MG HS's disc thickness without pulling the wheel — just look through the wheel spokes at the right angle to see the disc's edge and any signs of uneven wear.
What to look for
- A visible "lip" on the disc's edge — a height difference between the area swept by the pad and the untouched rim
- Discoloration or a bluish tint on the surface — a sign of overheating
- Rust concentrated in just one spot around the disc — suggests it hasn't been contacting the pad evenly for a while
The final check is always a caliper or micrometer measurement at pad-replacement time — only then can you tell for sure whether the disc is still within its wear limit.
See the full parts catalog for the MG HS — we carry discs for both axles on this model.
