High-voltage work on Chinese EVs: tools and paperwork
What a workshop needs before opening an HV pack, and which service parts are available separately.
Before any high-voltage work, a workshop needs trained staff (at least 2S/3S qualification depending on the scope), insulated gloves with a current inspection, and a CAT III multimeter to confirm zero voltage after the service plug is pulled.
Most Chinese EV makers publish the disconnect procedure and capacitor discharge time in the service manual — usually 5–10 minutes after the service plug is removed, but this should always be verified with a meter, not a clock.
Parts usually available separately include: service connectors, pack housing seals, module temperature sensors and HV cables — the cell pack itself is replaced as a whole unit.
