Sampa is a Turkish manufacturer of aftermarket parts for trucks, trailers and buses, founded in 1994 in Samsun by Tarık Altuncu and now one of Turkey's leading exporters of commercial-vehicle components.

Sampa: Turkey's Commercial-Vehicle Parts Manufacturer

History

Sampa Otomotiv was founded on September 15, 1994, in Samsun, Turkey, by Tarık Altuncu, who was born in Samsun in 1971 and studied economics at Bilkent University, graduating in 1992. The company began in a modest 150-square-metre space and grew over three decades into a manufacturing operation covering roughly 150,000 square metres across an integrated factory campus in Samsun's industrial zone, which today includes multiple production facilities alongside an in-house R&D centre. Sampa built its business specifically around parts for heavy commercial vehicles — trucks, trailers and buses — an area where Turkey has developed a significant manufacturing base thanks to its role as a production hub for several international truck and bus makers. The company states that it now employs around 5,000 people and exports to more than 160 countries, making it one of Turkey's larger automotive-parts exporters; it maintains its own offices, warehouses and partnerships in markets including the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, South Africa and the United States.

What they make

Sampa's product range covers parts for the suspension, steering, engine, chassis and braking systems of trucks, trailers and buses, and the company states it produces more than 100,000 individual products in these categories. As a manufacturer rather than a pure distributor, Sampa runs its own production facilities for these commercial-vehicle components rather than sourcing them entirely from third parties.

Where they fit — OE vs aftermarket

Sampa positions itself primarily as an aftermarket manufacturer supplying the independent commercial-vehicle repair and parts-distribution channel, rather than as a factory-fit OE supplier to truck manufacturers, though its scale and in-house manufacturing base set it apart from brands that primarily repackage parts sourced from elsewhere.

Buying guidance

As with other commercial-vehicle parts brands, chassis, suspension and braking components must match the specific axle and configuration of the truck or trailer, so always check the part against the vehicle's chassis number and axle type rather than a general model match. Because Sampa manufactures a very wide catalog spanning many vehicle systems, it's worth checking whether the specific part category you need has independent workshop feedback or fleet-operator experience behind it, since a large product range can vary in maturity between older, well-established lines and newer additions to the catalog.
