A cabin air filter (also called a pollen filter) is a pleated filter fitted in a vehicle's outside-air intake, ahead of the heating and ventilation system. It traps dust, pollen and other airborne particles before they reach the passenger compartment. Over time it clogs with debris, which restricts airflow and can noticeably weaken heating and air-conditioning performance. (Source)
